Packaging Information | Frank and Beans Underwear
Packaging, thoughtfully changing

Recyclable cardboard packaging for our underwear

Most current Frank and Beans products now use a sleeve made from 100% recyclable cardboard, replacing the individual plastic packaging previously used across much of our range.

Cardboard first

Most current products have moved away from individual plastic packaging.

Honest transition

Earlier stock in plastic will remain available while existing inventory sells.

Goal: 2030

We aim to eliminate plastic from new product packaging by 2030.

What is changing

Less new plastic, without wasting good products

We are changing packaging product by product. Some earlier stock was packed in plastic before the change and will remain in circulation until it sells through.

Discarding saleable underwear simply to replace its packaging would create unnecessary product waste. Selling that stock through lets us make the transition responsibly while cardboard sleeves become the standard across more of the range.

Our goal is to eliminate plastic from new product packaging by 2030.

Recycling in New Zealand

Three simple steps for the cardboard sleeve

Keep the sleeve clean and dry, then place it with household paper and cardboard recycling where accepted. Check your local council guidance. Local collection rules can vary, so council guidance should always take priority.

  1. Unwrap

Slide the cardboard sleeve off the folded garment.

  2. Keep it clean and dry

Flatten it if convenient and keep wet or soiled material out.

  3. Recycle locally

Place it with accepted paper and cardboard recycling.

Packaging FAQ

Clear answers about recyclable cardboard, legacy plastic stock and our packaging goal.

Most current products use cardboard sleeves, but some earlier stock remains in previous plastic packaging and may be supplied while it sells through.

Yes. The current product sleeve is made from 100% recyclable cardboard. Remove it from the garment, keep it clean and dry, and place it with household paper and cardboard recycling where local services accept it.

We describe the current sleeve as recyclable cardboard. We do not rely on compostable or biodegradable claims on this page.

Please follow the disposal guidance available in your area. We are selling through existing packaged stock rather than discarding usable products.

No. It applies specifically to the cardboard product sleeve. Protective shipping packaging may still be used to keep orders clean and dry during transit.

Our goal is to eliminate plastic from new product packaging by 2030. We will continue introducing cardboard sleeves while existing legacy stock sells through.

Better packaging is a process—and we will show the progress

We will keep moving new product packaging to cardboard, sell through usable legacy stock, and communicate clearly when materials or disposal instructions differ.
